GQ have a selection of jackets inspired directly by Star Wars including a couple of, already iconic The Force Awakens items like Han Solo's black jacket and Fin/Poe's brown jacket with the red panel on the shoulder. Read on for more...
One of my favourite things from the original trilogy was Han Solo's Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back wardrobe, especially the jacket. Something about it just seems perfect. It doesn't hurt that it's being worn by one of the coolest dudes in the galaxy, but the combination of the colour choice and the cut is spot on. Far from scruffy lookin' if ask me. So when we got our first look at Han in The Force Awakens it was fitting that every fan boy said, "Oh my god I want that jacket!" Well you're in luck.
A company called Matchless are producing Star Wars themed Outware, including Han's new black bomber jacket, that you can own when they are released in Selfridges in a couple of weeks. Here's a look at a couple of items..
Here is the Matchless spin on Han's new jacket. There's some nice detailing on there, especially with the little breast pocket things that you'll have to stick gadgets in yourself. There's also some detailing missing like the rectangular top button by the collar, but it is just inspired by and not a direct port over of the design. Below is a good look at Han Solo in The Force Awakens, sporting the new jacket.
Now from one of the coolest original characters to one of the coolest new kids, Fin. A lot has been said about Fins apparel once he ditches the super cool White Stormtrooper armour. I've had a few things to say about the implications of what he wears myself. Without doubt one of the most popular things to come out of Celebration was a display of costumes including the much coveted Fin/Poe jacket. It's no secret that the jacket every fan boy was get excited about starts out as Poe Dameron's fatigues and that Fin takes ownership early on in the film. I won't go into detail because the 'how' of it all is a little spoilery, but suffice to say, now you can wear it too.
The Matchless version seems to be a slightly different cut from Fin/Poe's but the iconic red panel is there as is, apparently, a place to store your Lightsaber. Check out Fin wearing the jacket in The Force Awakens below:
I'm not sure if Matchless plan to release a fur coat based on the big guy in the image above but at least you can get your hands on the other cool stuff eh? The rest of the range can be viewed at the source link and includes a Han Solo Parker, a Darth Vader inspired bomber jacket, an X-Wing fighter pilot's jacket and a whole lot more. They're not cheap, but until Anovos get to stitching, they may be your only hope, when it comes to owning some The Force Awakens apparel.
