Is Star Wars Episode VIII facing a delay?
MakingStarWars.net are reporting that there is a potential delay in the production of Star Wars Episode VIII. The reason would appear to be a result of the success of The Force Awakens' leads Daisy Ridley and John Boyega and their respective characters Rey and Finn, and more specifically the way these characters have been received by fans. As a result there is as re-write in play that boosts Rey and Finn's roles in the sequel to J.J. Abrams' movie. As a result some of the new characters are being reduced to make room for Rey and Finn. I'm sure that don't feel great if you've just joined the cast.
There is also talk, in the Meet The Press clip below, that role Bel Powley was in line for has gone to and unnamed Asian actress.
MSW are suggesting that if Episode VIII gets pushed back from its May 2018 release date that might not be to tragic for the film. As it stands Episode VIII is released less than six months after Rogue One: A Star Wars Stor, and let's be honest Episode VIII is the movie everyone is looking forward too now, hot on the heels of The Force Awakens' success. Few people seem to be aware of Rogue One: A Star Wars Stor and how it slots onto the bigger Star Wars picture. Would a move for the Episode VIII release be harmful for Star Wars? Will people be confused and disillusioned after Rogue One: A Star Wars Stor? Leave your thoughts on the subject below...
