Star Wars The Force Awakens claimed another prize this weekend...
J.J. Abrams and Co. can celebrate The Force Awakens replacing Jurassic World in the number 3 position of the top highest grossing movies of all time chart. The movie has now chalked up $1,733,411,043 internationally, and is enjoying the top domestic box office spot, to boot. We also heard that The Force Awakens is the number box office earner in the UK, dwarfing Skyfall's bar setting figure.
Now the real game is afoot as The Force Awakens needs to do some serious business if it stands a chance of catching Titanic and Avatar, which are currently in the top two places. I'd expect The Force Awakens to get another crack at the box office next year with a pre Episode VIII re-release ahead of Rian Johnson's entry's debut.
What do you think? Can The Force Awakens sink Titanic and (clumsy analogy warning) blow up Avatar's box office Home Tree (warned ya!)? Do you think we will get a re-release ahead of Episode VIII? Or do you think The Force Awakens will rise to the top spot now that the film is finally in cinemas in China? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
