Ron's Tweet Decoded

Marc Godsiff September 28, 2017

Earlier this week Ron tweeted an image from the set of the Untitled Han Solo Movie and asked fans to decode it for him. I suggested that perhaps Paul Bateman, Concept Designer and friend of the late Ralph McQuarrie, would be best placed to comment. And he cracked it...

Paul responded to Ron's tweet with the following-

@RealRonHoward this is as near as I can get you Ron, Ralph winged it as far as I know, but it was a font he came up with for Yavin 4. pic.twitter.com/qmOulMr38B

So these glyphs are used Ralph's original concept design for the temple on Yavin IV. I mentioned this today on the Patron exclusive Talk Star Wars Daily podcast, that this is most likely a phrase or passage commonly used in temples across the GFFA and not the actual Yavin IV temple. That to me would be too close to the original movies when the Han Solo film should be somewhat removed from those films, the events and locations to avoid the small universe issue we have run into before. Fingers crossed this is just a simple tribute to the work of Ralph McQuarrie and not Star Wars staying too close to safe ground.

What do you thin koi the use of these concepts in the Untitled Han Solo movie? Sound off below...
