There has been a whole bunch of new Rogue One footage and insights this weekend, starting with the live twitter Q&A yesterday and the release of some new clips and TV spots today. check them out below...
To start, here is the Q&A is full. You'll get a lot from this even though the Twitter questions were a little light (who's your favourite character?). The main thing I took from this was that the actors involved are deeply fond of each other and they've clearly bonded during filming. Diego Luna steals the show with his broad grin and fast wit, with the Ben Mendolsohn coming a close second. Clearly these actors are huge fans of this franchise, and fully aware of what it means to be a part of it. Check that out below.
Just compare the new generation of Star Wars stars to the OG stars. When Harrison, Mark and Carrie first made Star Wars, they were unaware of what it would become, and when it eclipsed them, they became uncomfortable in its shadow. Harrison Ford especially seems to resent Star Wars, despite his willingness to return for The Force Awakens. These new actors though, including Daisy Ridley and John Bodega, are fully aware of what this franchise is and how it will change their lives and they are owning it. I really appreciate that. It's nice to see people who understand how important Star Wars is to me, a fan, and have them treat that with respect. I often felt Harrison saw us Star Wars fans as weirdos who dressed in bathrobes and carried flashlights. We only know that thats only part of Star Wars fandom though, right?
Now check out some of the clips and TV spots that have hit this weekend.
The clip below gives us our first footage of Bail Organa in the original trilogy era.
This next clip gives us some stunning footage of the X-Wings in action on Scariff and ships launching from Yavin IV. Really beautiful looking shots.
And finally, here is the clip that followed the Q&A, that really shows how interesting K-2SO is going to be in this film.
My anticipation for this movie is at its peak now. I'm not sure how much more I can take. I don't want to see anymore footage, in fact I'm quite impressed with how restrained the production has been in regards to what it has released, I really don't feel like I've seen too much.
