Leaks come in many varied forms. Sometimes a member of the crew will pass information along to bloggers and news outlets, sometimes it's the cast (ahem, David Prowse!) and then there are toys. Did Lego just let a Rogue One: A Star Wars Stor cat out of the bag. Check out some Boba Fett shaped rumours below...
Lego held a keynote at the Nurembourg Toy Fair and up there on the screen during the presentation was an image of a Lego set coming in October that looks like it could be Boba Fett's legendary space ship, Slave I. Here's the image:
ScreenRant.com, who ran the piece, are also speculating that the image shows a TV show that may very well prove to be a Star Wars Lego TV Show.
I guess that image really does resemble Slave I, but does it mean Boba Fett is in the movie? Not really. I remember, back in the day Kenner released a Tuskan Raider toy as a part of the Return Of The Jedi range of toys. That character never appeared in Jedi, so why the toy? Because you get to shift extra plastic, that's why. Could it be that Lego are including Slave I in the Rogue One range of Lego toys because Boba Fett is a popular character and the set will certainly sell. Maybe a Slave I set will outsell any new ships associated wit hRogue One, simply because people know Slave I. There might even be a Millennium Falcon set yet, we donty know, that doesn't mean Han Solo and Chewbacca will be in Rogue One.
That being said, I think this could happen. Even if the ship is only seen parked at Jabba's Palace and our heroes have to go there to hire some bounbty hunters to carry out their raid. Slave I might just be a fancy cameo, nodding to the presence of the famed bounty hunter, Boba Fett. I do think it's unlikely that the character will feature, even in a tiny role, because it might limit the creatives who eventually come onto any potential Boba Fett film.
I guess we won't know anything for sure until the movie is released at Christmas, or maybe if we get a teaser trailer that leans on some of the characters we know from the existing stories. I'm firmly in the camp of, "Let this film stand or fall on its own merits," I don't think it'll need the cache of these legacy characters. It already has Darth Vader, if rumours are too be believed, does it really need more? Leave your thoughts in the comments...
