It has been a terrible week for Princess Leia's gold bikini. First Carrie Fisher advices Daisy Ridley to fight to keep herself out of of slave outfit, and then Gwendoline Christie celebrated Captain Phasma's armour as being awesome whilst maintaining the characters femininity. Now MSW are suggesting that the bikini will be shelved, no longer to appear in promotional material, in comic books or figurines...

I fully understand the motivation for distancing the provocative costume from the current batch of powerful female female characters making a long overdue arrival in the Star Wars univers, but I will always maintain that Leia's character was strengthened by the bikini, not compromised.
