Yesterday the guys at Full Of Sith tweeted out a fascinating theory about one specific moment in The Force Awakens trailer. Find out more below...
The theory is that he opening moment of the trailer includes the remains of a star field, which may or may not indicate that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is interacting with a transition. See the tweet below with a GIF of the moment in question:
This is a great theory and I think there might be something to it. This wouldn't be the first time a wipe has interacted with a character, or vice versa. I think it was in Episode III Revenge Of The Sith we got a transition where a character (Darth Sidious I think) was wiped off screen by a Coruscant building. Revenge Of The Sith has very unusual wipes throughout, but this was strange because the wipe was mapped around the contours of the building. Not exactly the same as this, but similar.
If this does prove to be Rey "wiping" from one scene to the next I'd be willing to wager that we pan down from the opening crawl to the oft rumoured Lightsaber tumbling through space and whatever happens to that and then this "Rey wipe" takes us from space to Jakku, which might make Rey the first character we meet in the sequel trilogy.
This theory has really got me excited. What do you think, are we seeing a transition from the movie here? Is this an intentional easter egg? Could Rey be the first person we meet in The Force Awakens? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
