Kathleen Kennedy has told BBC's Lizo MZimba, via MakingStarWars.net, that the Han Solo standalone film will begin filming in February 2017...
Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Phil Lord and Chris Miller's Star Wars entry , which stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suaotomo (unconfirmed at this time, but Chewy will be there) and Emilia Clarke, begins, what we can assume is principal photography in February. Check out the video below.
Kathleen Kennedy also hints at a spring reveal for Episode VIII footage which might suggest a trailer reveal at Celebration Orlando.
This is exciting to me because it is a look at what our year in Star Wars will look like from now on. A movie every Christmas (rumours suggest Han Solo may step away from the May release date and be released in December), and Celebration every spring/summer. In the meantime we will all be watching the movie in theatres. talking about its box office and then looking ahead to the home video release. We will then start picking over the leaks from the currently in production movie right up until Celebration. Here we will start to see promotional materials from the film due in cinemas in the winter and the promotional cycle for that film will start in earnest a few months later. Mix in there some reveals about future projects, what they are, who will make them and star in them and you've got the fixings for an awesome year of Star Wars coverage. I'm tired just thinking about it!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Celebration. Not sure if any of the Talk Star Wars team will be able to make it, things are in motion, but whatever happens, we will have a close eye on the event for reveals from VIII, because, after all, Rogue One is so last year!
