Daisy Ridley knew the title for Episode VIII, but suggests it may have changed by the time which get to hear, which may be some time away yet....
Daisy was on a podcast (Daisy we would love to have you on Talk Star Wars, with or without Mr. Boyega) and discussed the title of 2017's Star Wars movie. See her quote below:
So wonder what changes were made during production that might have caused Lucasfilm to rename the film? If in fact it has been renamed. But when can we expect to hear the new title?
There has been a rumour that the first tear trailer will be released on 20th December, a few days after the release of Rogue One, so will we get the title then?
I'm convinced the title will be released in November and the publicity cycle for VIII will follow the cycle established by The Force Awakens. I was quite surprised that Rogue One didn't stick to that publicity cycle itself, although I'm aware that there was some issue with Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.
Paramount had requested that Lucasfilm and Disney hold off on promotion for Rogue One to allow Rogue Nation to enjoy some confusion free publicity. Which begs the question, if Lucasfilm follow the The Force Awakens promo pattern will it confuse people who are booking tickets for Rogue One? I'm sure there is a lot of caution here, ahead of the release of the first A Star Wars Story, and perhaps things will be a lot different for Han Solo when Lucasfilm know how the audience will react to the new, stand alone model.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. When do you expect to hear the title for VIII? What changes may have led to a change of title? And do you think Lucasfilm will avoid promoting VIII before Rogue One is released to avoid confusion?
Thank you for reading,
