On Sunday 17th July, at London's Excel centre we got to attend the one hour Princess Diaries panel, where Carrie Fisher herself, took to the stage to chat about Star Wars with another Star Wars icon, Warwick Davis. It would seem that the Princess let out a little more than she had intended during the chat....
Carrie talked to Warwick about what it like to "be" Princess Leia. To be called Leia by fans and to have a shampoo bottle made in your likeness. Many of these stories would be familiar to die hard, ahem, "vintage" Star Wars fans. But it was when Carrie got to answer some fan questions that things gor really interesting.
Warwick asked Carrie what she knew about the time between Star Wars Episode VI The Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens and she answered, "Han's funeral..." Check out that moment in the video below. We (as in the Talk Star Wars gang) turned to each other wide eyed asking if we had heard her correctly. But yes, Carrie mentioned Han's funeral, and with that Warwick whisked her onto safer ground without calling too much attention to the slip.
A little while ago during a podcast, we speculated that the people wearing black during the Dubrovnik shoot, could be part of a memorial for either Han Solo or those lost when Hosnian Prime was destroyed in The Force Awakens. So were we correct? Will Han get a beautiful send off in Episode VIII? Considering that Rian Johnson confirmed that VIII picks up immediately after The Force Awakens, it would appear that a funeral would be taking place onscreen rather than off!
What do you think, will we be witness to a Han Solo memorial service? Leave your thoughts below....
