MakingStarWars.net have a name for a new Star Wars planet that'll feature in The Last Jedi and it is...
Potential spoilers for The Last Jedi below.
Crait. No, not like the dragon.
Word is this is the planet we were recently told about that was described as "Mars with snow", but in fact it is closer to a salt flat planet, called Crait, with some volcanic features. It is also rumoured to be the location of a hidden Resistance base, and the location of a mine that the Resistance use to fund their operation. Possible Spice Mines? Are the Resistance getting their hands dirty trading in illegal substances to fund the mission?
Jason's report also has details of a new style of B-Wing (picture in the header to this post) which may play a large part in the previously report ground battle with the First Order Heavy Walkers (AT-4Xs).
I like the sound of this planet, and the idea that the Resistance are involved in something morally questionable in order to serve the greater good. It builds on the concept introduced in Rogue One, where we witnessed Cassian salt out murder a guy to protect the Rebellion. Science fiction has always been a mirror of the times we live in and so it seems fitting that Star Wars includes some complex, contemporary tones. The Resistance dealing in some black market spice would be a great tone to add to The Last Jedi.
Head over to MakingStarWars.net for Jason's full report and a better look at that image of the B-Wing.
