Tonight was the Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation premiere in London, live from the BFI IMAX. Amongst the usual “It was a pleasure to work with…” and “Everyone was so professional…” sound bites was a very, ahem, revealing story from Simon Pegg…
Mr. Pegg was asked for stories from the set of the latest movie that pits our favourite IMF agents against a Anti IMF force. As soon as Mr. Pegg mentioned a story about a photograph Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson and director Christopher McQuarrIe all begged him not to tell it. But Simon Pegg never fails to deliver.
The story goes something like this:
One day Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Jeremy Renner were essentially reduced to background performers as Tom Cruise did most of the heavy lifting. To alleviate the boredom, Renner sent Pegg a picture message. A message Mr. Pegg described as:
“Of his middle area. Not the whole arrangement, just one element.”
One can only imagine the transatlantic face palm occurring, wherever Mr. Renner was, watching the event.
“We had a ball!” Added Mr. Pegg, once again proving; if you want humour, turn to a Brit!
The rest of the event was pretty much paint by numbers, Mr. Cruise was his usual charming self, easily smashing the soft ball questions, lobbed his way out of the park.
Also at the event was Eddie Izzard, back in drag and stealing the show as only he can.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation opens everywhere this coming Thursday, make a bee line for the nearest IMAX and get the full BIG screen experience.
